New West Yorkshire Airport Terminal Opens
Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) has this week announced the official opening and commencement of operations from its brand-new terminal.
The opening marks the end of the first phase of the airport’s ongoing £100 million terminal expansion project.
All passengers arriving and departing via LBA will benefit from the upgraded facilities, which support the airport’s commitment to enhance customer service and regional connectivity.
The completion of the terminal extension has introduced a modernised arrivals process, including a new baggage reclaim area and an upgraded passport control facility incorporating advanced security technologies.
The new facility also brings a significant 83% increase in seating, offering passengers uninterrupted views of the runway. In addition, there is an expanded food and drink offering.
To further enhance the pre-flight experience, passengers can now enjoy access to two premium lounges, including the brand-new Six Eight One Premium Lounge.
Work on Phase 2 of the project has begun focusing on refurbishing the existing terminal to further improve passenger experience and modernise existing terminal infrastructure.
This will result in some changes to the usual passenger flows, particularly for those departing from the airport. Upon arrival at the terminal, passengers will notice hoardings and scaffolding at the terminal front, a relocated Meet & Greet parking area, and changes to bus pick-up and drop-off zones.
A dedicated webpage on the LBA website will be regularly updated with information throughout Phase 2 and can be accessed

By the time the LBA:REGEN project completes at the end of 2026, LBA will have:
38% more floorspace
76% more retail space
83% more seating
77% increase in luggage reclaim belt capacity
50% more security lanes.
