Arts North Studios, the arts college, will open its stage doors this October for its annual open day.

The college, which is based at The Fire Station, Sunderland, will welcome prospective students and their parents or guardians on Saturday 24 October 2026.

Running from 10am until 3pm, the open day will give young performers the opportunity to find out more about training at Arts North Studios, meet the team and explore the facilities available at the college.

Students can attend from Year 9 onwards, with parents and guardians encouraged to stay throughout the day.

Visitors will have the chance to look around Arts North Studios’ facilities, including professional dance and rehearsal studios, changing and locker facilities, showers, study and co-working spaces and The Fire Station’s 550-seat auditorium.

The day will also give prospective students and their families the chance to learn more about the courses available, the training on offer and the different routes into further performing arts education.

Refreshments will be provided throughout the day, with a full schedule and further information sent to attendees once they have booked their place.

Launched in 2025, Arts North Studios was developed in partnership with Culture Quarter and in collaboration with Sunderland College, offering young performers the opportunity to access professional performing arts training in the North East.

Since launching, demand for its training has continued to grow, with record numbers now attending both the college and Arts North Studios Academy.

Its partnership with leading performing arts school ArtsEd has also created further opportunities for young performers in the region to access high-level professional training and industry expertise.

The college is led by Principal Annie Guy, a West End performer, associate director and choreographer who trained at ArtsEd in London. Her credits include productions such as Hairspray, Bonnie and Clyde and West Side Story.

Annie said: “Our open day is a great opportunity for young performers and their families to come and see Arts North Studios for themselves, meet the team and find out more about the training we offer.

“We’re passionate about giving talented young people in the North East access to professional training here in the region, and the open day is a chance to ask questions, explore the facilities and get a real sense of what Arts North Studios can offer.

“We’re really looking forward to welcoming future students and their families in October.”

Arts North Studios offers training in Musical Theatre and Acting for Stage and Screen, with courses designed to combine practical training, professional discipline and industry experience.

The Arts North Studios Open Day takes place from 10am until 3pm on Saturday 24 October 2026 at The Fire Station, Sunderland, SR1 3HA.
