A pupil from Pudsey's Fulneck School has been placed third in a gruelling two-day national windsurfing competition.
13-year-old Jennie Roberts competed in 11 races over the course of a weekend in the Royal Yachting Association and UK Windsurfing Association Inland National Championships, held at Rutland Sailing Club.
This year the national championships, which saw over 200 competitors from all over the country descend on Rutland Water, included the RYA Junior, Youth & Masters events, as well as the Inland National Championships and the Champions Cup.
Jennie, who races in the 3.5m sail fleet, was the third fastest female at the end of the event in a field of over 40 competitors.
Fulneck School principal Deborah Newman said: "This is a great achievement for Jennie as her podium finish was somewhat unexpected.
"We are very proud of her efforts and this is a worthy reward for her hard work and training over the past few years."
Jennie said: "I enjoyed every minute of the weekend, it was fantastic.
"In the end it was a very close competition, but I'm delighted with a third place finish.
She added: "I'm really looking forward to working even harder over the next year and hope to be back next time around.
"I don't feel I'm too far away from those who finished ahead of me, so with any luck I can come back and improve upon my performance in 2015."
