SealStop, the Yorkshire-made automatic shut-off valve designed to eliminate water waste and save gardeners’ time, has joined an elite band of organisations who promote responsible business behaviour.
The business has just become Good Business Charter-accredited.
SealStop was invented by Yorkshire farmers Jason and Belle Richardson of Pocklington.
Founded in 2024, Sealstop has been led by Jason and Belle who have placed sustainability and ethical behaviour at the core of their business. Through hard work and commitment to a green agenda, the business has shown how responsible practices can deliver both environmental impact and commercial success.
The Good Business Charter (GBC) is a UK accreditation that recognises organisations committed to responsible business practices across ten key areas, including fair pay, employee wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, environmental responsibility, ethical sourcing, and prompt payment to suppliers.
Open to businesses of all sizes and sectors, the Charter sets out a clear framework for operating in a way that is fair, transparent, and accountable. Companies must meet all ten commitments to be accredited, demonstrating a holistic approach to ethical business rather than focusing on a single area.
The Good Business Charter is designed to raise standards of business behaviour and provide a recognisable mark of trust for customers, employees, and partners. Accreditation signals that a business is committed to balancing profit with social and environmental responsibility, while contributing positively to the wider economy and community.

Belle Richardson explained: “We didn’t set out to tick boxes. We set out to build a business we are proud of. Being recognised by the Good Business Charter is a reminder that doing the right thing, for people, for the planet, and for our community, really does count.”
Sam Beardall, Head of Community for the Good Business Charter, commented “Can I say a big thank you to SealStop for being a valued member of the Good Business Charter community. Your commitment is helping to create a fairer, more sustainable future for all.”
Meanwhile leading UK businessman Julian Richer, founder of GBC, added: ““At its core, responsible business is simple: treat people fairly, act ethically and you’ll build trust, loyalty and long-term success. The GBC is as a clear signpost for organisations committed to doing this.”
Originally launched in the equestrian market, SealStop is now finding fans in gardens across the UK. Proudly manufactured just 45 minutes from York, it’s also the first in a growing range, with rainwater harvesting tools currently in development.
Belle Richardson commented: “What an extraordinary and wonderful past 12 months it has been. From winning multiple awards for exceptional customer service and for business and ecological innovation to TV appearances, podcasts and pitching in front of incredibly talented people, it's been full on. This accreditation is another massive vote of confidence in what we are doing.”
