Stimulating The Body To Recovery

Group Editor Andrew Palmer, chats with Jowita Penkala about her enthusiasm for the The Zenni Electrostimulation Method.

It was a simple comment that, as a ten-year-old, Jowita Penkala heard while recuperating after successive operations that had an enormous impact on her life.

Her story is remarkable and fascinating; she overcame numerous challenges as a young girl, including numerous surgical operations. Her journey began in her native Poland, where she grew up in the small town of Wloclawek, then moved to the USA and finally settled in the UK, where she now uses a recognised technique to help people crippled with pain.

By the age of 10, I had undergone three major surgeries and survived against all odds,” she casually says. While she was recuperating, she overheard a comment from the mother of another child who was in the same hospital room, and even at an early age, it would have a huge impact.

“You need to think positively not just on the conscious level but also on the subconscious level.” As Jowita gradually began to understand the significance of those words, she had, by her fourteenth birthday, decided she wanted to do something positive in life.

“I thought about being a surgeon or a psychologist, but the consequences of spending so much time in the hospital had taken their toll on me, and I didn’t have enough self-belief.”

As we converse, it's clear that Penkala has overcome her self-doubt and exudes confidence, a trait she credits with overhearing that mother’s comment during her recovery. As a watchmaker’s daughter, Jowita was under pressure to go straight into the family business, but with her newfound confidence, she decided to pursue her own path and ended up studying for a Masters in Marketing.

As Jowita started on a path to build her confidence, she started to read several books on the subject: “I had a strong desire to re-programme my subconscious mind to improve my health, and I started to read Freud and research wellbeing, all of which I implemented into my day-to-day living.”

With her boyfriend at the time, now her husband, the couple applied for an internship to work in Cape Cod. After receiving an American visa, she worked as a marketing professional before relocating to the UK.

Unfortunately, her health problems had not completely gone away; “I was suffering in adulthood with further chronic health conditions from an overactive and enlarged thyroid, which Western medicine seemed unable to cure. This prompted me to search for an alternative, more holistic solution.”

It was the beginning of a 20-year journey that culminated with the discovery of the Zenni Electrostimulation Method.

"It brought about a rapid reduction in my symptoms; I began seeing changes for the better."

“I had one treatment every four weeks. Before the treatment, I had debilitating symptoms such as an irregular, non-stop heartbeat, difficulty breathing, and dizziness. 24 hours after the first treatment, all the symptoms subsided significantly, and after three weeks they were completely gone.”

Viktor Zenni, a Polish compatriot, first patented the Zenni Electrostimulation Method in Australia in 1990. It stimulates the body to better "autoregulate" by enhancing electrochemical processes between the brain and other glandular organs.

She adds that thousands of people in Australia, Poland, Canada, the USA, and other countries have already used it with great success over the last 30 years. "This can subsequently lead to restoring harmony and balance and, in doing so, have beneficial effects on health," she says.

She felt compelled to investigate this further, eventually deciding that she wanted to introduce the method to a European audience. Penkala is the first practitioner to bring The Zenni Electrostimulation Method to the UK via clinics in London, Leeds, and Manchester through her company Excellence Health, and she is now helping people find relief from chronic health conditions such as asthma, migraines, allergies, long COVID, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, thyroid issues, Parkinson’s disease, menopause and many others.

When I told Penkala about my friend, Graham, she suggested he try the Zenni Electrostimulation as it is a “unique, innovative, and non-invasive method of electrostimulation.”

I discussed the method with Graham, who expressed his eagerness to try "anything to reduce the pain" and arranged a meeting with Penkala at her Leeds clinic. Firstly, she clarified that the method relies on the delivery of weak diadynamic and galvanic currents to the human body via electrodes. It results in increased blood flow, increases and amplifies the body's defense systems, and gives the organs the vital energy they need.

She put the electrodes on his feet before wetting his hair and placing them on his head, stressing that it is not a convulsive treatment; it doesn’t damage any cells.

Graham tells me he felt he was ready to audition for the part of Nora Batty once Penkala had got him ready. “I felt a vibration sensation and had a metal taste in my mouth, but it wasn’t unpleasant. It was quite relaxing during the electrostimulation process, which lasted one and a half hours. Throughout the process, Jowita engaged in conversation with me, delving into the scientific literature on the technique. This holistic wellness treatment was certainly effective. I only had two sessions, but I did feel some relief at the end of each and as if my body had restored itself.”

Graham was fascinated by Jowita's story and eager to learn about its various applications in treating various conditions.

Jowita, an enthusiastic ambassador for the Zenni Electrostimulation Method, has been engaging with hospital clinicians in London and the South West, receiving invitations to initiate several research projects.

She is also looking to franchise the method so more people can benefit around the country and is building up a series of successful case studies.

Currently, her focus is on rasing the profile of The Zenni Electrostimulation Method and in doing so helping individuals in alleviating pain and leading more comfortable lives.

The Zenni Electrostimulation Method works on the electro-chemical level.

The biochemical processes occurring in the cells of our bodies are not only chemical reactions, as previously thought, but they are also electrochemical phenomena. Therefore, if there are no electrons in the outer areas of electron shells of particular atoms included in the chemical compounds involved in biochemical changes at the cell level in individual tissues, organs or organ systems, it leads to metabolic and physiological disorders, and ultimately to tissue, organ or systemic injuries and diseases.

Dr. Jerzy Lechowski, specialist in physiology and biochemistry, University of Life Sciences in Lublin, Poland, said,
“Dr Zenni’s statement that the electrostimulation ‘energises the organism or adds energy’ has its scientific basis, because the electron circling around the nucleus of the atom is not a small ball … but it is an electronic pair with a defined negative charge and defined energy.”
