Summer Time With Little Alf

Hello everyone and welcome back to our weekly post with the Yorkshire Times!

It’s certainly been hot recently and I hope you're all having chance to enjoy some of the glorious sunshine. I keep mentioning the sunny weather a lot recently, but you can’t not enjoy it when the winter has been so cold and rainy especially here in Yorkshire. We’ve had a lot of snow this year so it’s nice to finally be able to enjoy the sun.

This week has been another hectic one. Last Saturday we sold out of books in the Little Alf shop which was amazing that it was so busy! It’s nearly been a year since we opened the shop which I can hardly believe as time has just flown by – time flies when you're having fun right!

When my first book was published in 2014 I never thought that one day I would have a shop based around Little Alf.

In the past year we’ve really developed the brand and have a new book being released in August, which I am very excited about. It’s just been sent to the proof reader and I’m very eager to get it back and add in the pictures, acknowledgements, and some information about Alf. I’m probably more exited to see the book finished in my hands with its cover all glossy and nice.

During the year, since opening the shop, we’ve also become ambassadors to the ‘Brooke’ charity and partnered up with local artists Stacey Moore to create a piece of art work to remember the Horses who lost their lives in the war.

As well as this we’ve launched a clothing range in aid of Brooke and ‘Little Alf’s trail around the Yorkshire Dales’ which has had an amazing response so far.

So, it might have been a busy year for us since opening, but we couldn’t be prouder of how far we have come! This week I also got the first box of Little Alf’s memoir with the summer cover on and I love it. I think Alfie looks super cute on the front.

Talking of Alfie, I had to brush all his mane out yesterday as somehow, he’s managed to get a dreadlock in there. I brush Alfie’s mane nearly every day but he still manages to get lots of knots! – once I’d finished brushing his hair out it looked like he had an Afro hairstyle going on.

It’s been hot for the horses this week, so we’ve been checking more often that they have fresh water and making sure they have some shade. Alfie has been lazy, but I can’t blame him the sun even makes me feel more tired!
