Trentham Winter Lights

Our second visit to Trentham Winter Lights was every bit as enchanting as the first. Last year, my then 4- and 7-year-olds were utterly captivated by the spectacle, and this year the magic returned with a delightful twist. The trail featured a subtle Wizard of Oz theme, punctuated by rainbows that appeared at every turn, creating a wonderfully whimsical atmosphere reminiscent of a storybook.

The beauty of the lights set against Trentham’s glorious gardens is nothing short of transportive. Wandering through illuminated pathways, surrounded by bursts of colour and imaginative displays, felt like stepping into another world. For the children, the highlights were clear: the chance to climb into Santa’s sleigh, the discovery of rainbow animals, and the oversized glowing bugs that sparked endless giggles. For me, it was the joy of capturing countless cutesy photos of my children framed by the glowing arches and sparkling backdrops—moments I know I’ll treasure.

The food stalls added to the festive fun. Calum was particularly proud to rate his crepe an impressive 5.5 out of 5, while I happily finished Skye’s enormous portion of chips. The old-school fairground games didn’t deliver any prizes this time, which left a slight pang of disappointment, but it was quickly forgotten in the glow of the evening.

We left Trentham feeling uplifted, full of festive cheer, and ready to embrace the season. The Winter Lights remain a highlight of our family’s calendar, blending magical themes, breathtaking displays, and family-friendly fun into an experience that delights both children and adults alike.
