Cynergy Business Finance has provided £6.3 million to Yorkshire-based Wakefield Shirt Company to support its growth plans. The funding will support the continued growth and development of the Wakefield Shirt Company’s product offering and UK footprint.

Wakefield Shirt Company was set up in 1940 in the midst of the Second World War. Its aim was to produce quality men’s shirts for those returning from war, and blouses for the women now working in factories. Whilst the Double Two brand remains core to the business (sold wholesale, retail and on-line), the group also supplies workwear with a growing portfolio of government contracts and supplies own-label shirts to a number of brands.

This funding package from Cynergy Business Finance underscores its commitment to backing resilient businesses in the UK and further strengthens its presence across England to showcase the reach of its services. By providing flexible funding, it continues to support established businesses in the UK.

Luke Fitzsimmons, Corporate Sales Director at Cynergy Business Finance, said: “We’re pleased to support a long-standing business and existing client by refinancing their property portfolio with flexible property facility that can support their growth plans. With the business also delivering into the public sector, this enhanced support is a natural fit and strengthens an already established relationship.”

John Donner, Managing Director at Wakefield Shirt Company, added: "We have used Cynergy Business Finance for the last 3 years for our Invoice Finance needs and their straight forward, no nonsense, value for money approach made them a natural choice when our mortgage came up for renewal. We look forward to continuing to work with them as our business grows."

Anselm Gilby lead advisory at Anthony Corporate said: “Anthony Corporate introduced Cynergy Business Finance ABL to fund the invoice discounting facility, and their support on the property portfolio refinance showed their forward thinking. The transaction was delivered successfully with the support of the corporate team at CBF Manchester, and we look forward to working together on future opportunities.”
