West Yorkshire Charities Team Up For Community Challenge4Hope

West Yorkshire charities Focus4Hope and Brodstock are joining forces to bring people together for a major fundraising event.

Challenge4Hope, scheduled for 30 August 2026, is designed as an inclusive community gathering catering to everyone, from seasoned endurance athletes to individuals seeking a fresh personal challenge or simply a day out.

Organised by Focus4Hope—a West Yorkshire charity supporting people experiencing homelessness and hardship—alongside Brodstock, the charitable fundraising arm of Old Brodleians Rugby Club, the initiative aims to unite the community in a supportive environment while assisting vulnerable residents. Organisers emphasise that participation is flexible, with no pressure to compete.

The itinerary centres around the 18-mile Brighouse Boundary Way Challenge, a demanding off-road route that participants can run or walk. Competitors can tackle the full circuit individually or enter as a team of three, with each member completing approximately 10 kilometres. For those seeking a greater test, the course can be extended to two full circuits to create an ultramarathon-distance event.

Additional activities include:

5km Family Fun Run: Open to all ages and abilities, hosted entirely within the grounds of Old Brodleians Rugby Club with no roads or traffic to navigate.

Cycling Routes: Self-supported 70km or 100km circular routes for cyclists of all abilities, navigated independently.

Craig Wood from Old Brodlians Rugby Club said: “This promises to be a fantastic day out. Our team challenge is a great chance for local businesses, friendship groups and families to have a rewarding adventure together. You don't have to be an experienced runner to take part, but if you do want a challenge it won’t disappoint!”

Afternoon celebrations will feature free children's sporting taster sessions—including netball, rounders, American flag football, and rugby—designed to introduce young people to new sports in an inclusive setting. The day will conclude with a community barbecue and live music running into the evening.

Louise Reed, CEO of Focus4Hope, added: “Every entry fee for the physical challenges or donation made will help support our life-changing work, while also enabling Brodstock to continue investing in charitable and community initiatives that make a lasting difference across our local area.”

Organisers hope Challenge4Hope will become an annual fixture that encourages physical activity while supporting the local community.
