Yorkshire Day: ‘Ey Up In A Cup

Celebrate Yorkshire Day with a cocktail full of the North’s homegrown favourites!

There’s no place quite like Yorkshire, and what better day to celebrate it than Yorkshire Day on 1st August! To celebrate the annual day, Europe’s leading ice manufacturer based in Pontefract, The Ice Co. has partnered with other Yorkshire businesses, including Taylors of Harrogate, Dutch Barn Orchard Vodka, and Pure Yorkshire honey.

The partnership will see some of the region’s best-loved and most iconic products used to craft a truly local cocktail to provide you with a perfect taste of Yorkshire to mark the occasion.

Bask in all that is Yorkshire by putting yer’ feet up and enjoying this cocktail!

The Yorkshire Grey

Ingredients:

The Ice Co. Super Cubes – made with Yorkshire Spring Water!
6 measures Taylors of Harrogate Earl Grey Tea
2 measures Dutch Barn Orchard Vodka
1 ½ tbsp of Yorkshire Honey
1 tbsp of lemon curd
Garnish: Sprigs of Yorkshire lavender

Method:

1. Brew the tea and allow to cool
2. Muddle the lemon curd and vodka together in a cocktail shaker
3. Fill the shaker with The Ice Co. Party Ice
4. Add the rest of the ingredients and shake hard
5. Strain over The Ice Co. Super Cubes in a short tumbler
6. Garnish with lavender sprigs

Lucy Barrow, Head of Marketing at The Ice Co., commented:
“We are really excited to be partnering with such amazing brands to create a drink that we think is the perfect nod to Yorkshire. As a brand based in the North, we thought our Super Cubes, which are made from spring water from East Yorkshire, are the perfect base for the drink.”

Nothing beats a brew and Taylors of Harrogate has added its touch to the cocktail. Abigail Sawyer said:
“Here at Taylors, we pride ourselves on producing outstanding tea and coffee, so it’s great to see our Earl Grey being used to concoct a quirky new drink to mark Yorkshire Day.”

Steve Hickey, Sales and Marketing Director at Ellers Farm Distillery, makers of Dutch Barn Orchard Vodka, added:
“The water used to create all our products is sourced directly from the ground beneath it. There is no better way to celebrate Yorkshire than to use locally sourced ingredients and turn them into something that not only tastes exceptional, but is better for the planet, too.”

Completing the cocktail is Pure Yorkshire Honey which is wholly made in… you guessed it – Yorkshire! These quintessential flavours combined make the perfect representation of God’s Own County.
