A rising young Yorkshire actor appears in the upcoming Alan Bennett film, The Choral, released in cinemas on 7 November.

Ralph Falkingham, 9, from Leeds, shares the screen with a star-studded cast including Academy Award nominee and BAFTA-winner Ralph Fiennes. The cast also includes Roger Allam, Mark Addy, Alun Armstrong, Robert Emms, and Simon Russell Beale.

Set in the fictional Yorkshire town of Ramsden in 1916, during World War I, the film tells the story of the ambitious local Choral Society. Most of its male members, including the chorus master, have volunteered for the front, so, under the direction of Dr. Guthrie (Fiennes), the Choral Society recruits a group of teenage boys and girls.

The British historical comedy drama written by Bennett is directed by Nicholas Hytner.

Articulate Agency secured Ralph in the role, alongside 150 supporting artists.

Articulate Agency, which is based in Shipley in West Yorkshire, has a reputation for casting young talent. It also runs a competitively priced drama school in locations across Yorkshire, helping to break down barriers into the acting industry.

The agency also recently secured Ralph in this year’s hard-hitting Netflix drama, Toxic Town, starring Jodie Whittaker.

Stacey Burrows, Managing Director of Articulate Agency, said: “Ralph has a small role in the film but is making waves as an actor, including booking jobs in TV, film, and commercials, and we’re very proud of him. The Choral was shot at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Saltaire as the fictional location of Ramsden. Our office is five minutes away based in Shipley, so this film was a real joy for our agency, featuring local talent and Yorkshire as a growing destination for film and TV shoots.”

Articulate Agency has cast actors in a number of high-profile productions in Yorkshire, including the hit drama shot in Bradford, BBC’s Virdee, and the on-going TV hit, All Creatures Great and Small.

The current series includes Articulate child actors, Thomas Riches, 6, who plays James Herriot’s son, and Imogen Clawson, 18, who plays Helen’s sister.

Matilda Firth, 10, also stars alongside Kiefer Sutherland and Rebel Wilson in Sky’s Christmas hit movie, Tinsel Town which is released on December 5, and was filmed across Knaresborough, Wetherby, and Leeds.
