Young people from across the Bradford district are being invited to explore exciting careers in fashion, textiles and design as part of Sustainable Fashion Week 2026.

The event, organised by SkillsHouse - Bradford Council’s education, employment and careers service - and Shipley College, will take place at Victoria Hall, Shipley on Tuesday 29 September and will bring together employers, educators and industry specialists from across the fashion and textile sector.

Designed for upper Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, the event will showcase Bradford's world-famous textile heritage while highlighting the innovation, creativity and sustainability driving the industry today.

Students will be able to visit exhibition stands, meet industry professionals and take part in interactive workshops covering sustainable fabrics, digital fashion technology, recycling and upcycling, natural dyes and garment design.

Exhibitors and workshop providers include Sunny Bank Mills, the Society of Dyers and Colourists, Bradford Museums & Galleries, The Salvation Army, IK Collections and Dwilts Clothing.

Visitors will also have the chance to learn more about garments created for King Charles III and members of the Royal Family, discover the science behind dyeing and colouring, and explore how the fashion and textile sector is embracing more sustainable and circular ways of working.

The event forms part of a wider programme of activities taking place throughout Sustainable Fashion Week, including school workshops, industry talks, site visits, exhibitions and community activities across the district.

“This event is a fantastic opportunity for young people to discover the exciting careers available in fashion, textiles, design and manufacturing, while learning how the industry is responding to the challenges of sustainability.

“By bringing together employers, education providers and industry experts, we're helping young people gain a better understanding of the opportunities that exist locally and the skills they may need for the future. I'd encourage schools from across the district to take part and be inspired by what is a truly innovative and forward-looking sector.”
