Happy Birthday Your Majesty!

Today, Tuesday 21 April, Queen Elizabeth II celebrates her 94th birthday.

Because of the coronavirus pandemic and at the Queen's request, the usual marking of her birthday with the traditional royal gun salute has been cancelled.

The Palace has said that all celebrations will be done privately via social media while the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are at Windsor Castle.

It has also been announced that her official birthday celebrations in June have also been cancelled, so the traditional Trooping the Colour will not go ahead.

This is the first time in the Queen's reign that the celebrations have been cancelled.

The Queen made a rare TV broadcast earlier this month when she addressed the nation from Windsor Castle, calling for unity during the coronavirus pandemic.
