In Conversation With B*Witched
There was a time when B*Witched were the nation's favourite girl band. Dressed in double denim while delivering inimitable and irrepressible pop gems, they danced and sung their way into millions of hearts. Having reformed and already delivered some stunning new music in the aftermath of their initial break-up, they finally deliver the follow-up to 2014's criminally underappreciated Champagne or Guinness with a very different sound on the lush Ripped Jeans. We caught up with Edele to learn more.

Hi, how are you all?
Hey! Good, thank you. I hope you are well.
I am doing well, thanks. We are so excited you finally have a new EP!
Us too!!
Let's start with birthdays. How did you find the response when you released it last year?
The attention on
C'est La Vie overshadowed our good response on
Paddy's Day, so we decided to include it in our new EP,
Ripped Jeans.
It's been a while since the single; tell us about recording and writing the remainder of your new EP...
It has been longer than we anticipated, but life doesn’t always go to plan. Finally, we have it out there. We really enjoyed the process of recording it together in Jersey. The studio in the day and nights out together, the perfect match.
The collection is called Ripped Jeans. How did you come up with the title?
It's always a long conversation trying to figure out titles when they are not song titles. The title of one song is
Greatest Little Mistake. I don’t think that would work too well!
In the song
So Into You, we sing about your white tee and your ripped jeans, thinking that you’re James Dean—so that is where it came from, and let's face it, it is pretty fitting!
Back then, you were known for your denim love. Do you still recommend double denim?
Double denim is a classic look. Depending on how you wear it, it's always advisable. It doesn’t suit everyone.
Your latest single is So Into You. It sounds quite different from the one people know you for. What were your inspirations?
Music has moved on so much since we first started, and we want to move along with it and use the sounds of today to represent the people we are today. All of our music is available on streaming, so new music is fun for us to do.
You have already showcased new material during your summer shows. What is the best feedback you've received to date?
The best thing was that every time we sang So Into You, people were desperately trying to sing along, even though they didn't know. It is just one of those feel-good songs—summer vibes. The good news is that they can learn it now and sing to their hearts' content.
What are your ambitions for the EP?
Simply put, we want people to listen to and enjoy our music as much as we do. We make it to make people happy so we can all come together and have a great time.
Can we expect a headline tour any time soon?
That is our dream—to come back like that one day. One day with our families, the time will be right!!! In the meantime, you will catch us gigging.
You've been on the road with lots of bands from back in the day. If you could record with one, who would you choose?
It's probably 'N SYNC; they always inspired us back then, and their song
Tearing Up My Heart was always the song we played before we went on stage to get us going. It would be fun to tour with them again.
