Now 104 Compilation (Universal/Sony)
Always a good barometer of where pop music is at are the Now music compilations. This new 2 CD set opens with the song of the autumn -
Dance Monkey by Tones and I. The track is so different to anything else around, no wonder the song has been Number 1 for 8 weeks and more.
It just goes to show that Whitney Houston is as popular as ever - all you need to do is get someone to update her sound, just like Kygo has done on
Higher Love. The track is still high in the airplay charts and understandably so.
Post Malone shows he has cross over appeal with
Circles whilst the new Sigala track with Ella Henderson,
We Got Love, sounds like a dance floor smash.
CD2 is more down tempo with
Bruises from Lewis Capaldi,
Outnumbered from Dermont Kennedy and Tom Walker gives us
Better Half of Me.
The term "Throwback" seems to be fashionable at the moment, basically it means an old track so we get 5 old tracks from Now 4 including
Shout To The Top from The Style Council and
Together in Electric Dreams from Phil Oakey and Giorgio Moroder.
A fine compilation
I give it 4 out of 5
