As another weekend comes to an end, there should be no reservations that the sporting action will continue, as we have so much drama yet to come in the upcoming weekdays.

Tuesday 13th October Women’s World Cup Qualification: England W v Greece W 19:30

The Lionesses have the advantage heading into a dramatic second leg of the qualification playoffs. With Greece on the back foot, though, could we see a turnaround of the ages or a professional display from the former EURO winners?

In the first leg, the Lionesses hit first with a 39th-minute goal from Georgia Stanway, which was followed by two more to add onto the tally by Le Tissier after the hour mark, and then Russo just four minutes later.

A 77th-minute goal from the Greeks courtesy of Brouksair made no purposeful indent into the England lead, and now they head to King Power Stadium with a two-goal deficit to overturn.

It will not be an easy task, though, to get the goals needed against an England side that has only lost once in their last ten matches, which is to current world champions Spain.

Greece’s loss in the first leg was the first time they had tasted defeat in seven matches when they lost to Belgium in late June.

Now with so much on the line, they will be hoping they can return to their best form and be on the positive end of a memorable night for Greek football.

For England, they will be full of confidence, having won so convincingly in the first leg, and with that pressure on them now, it’s time for them to get the job done.

Tuesday 13th October EFL Championship: Stoke City v Middlesbrough FC 20:00

If the England action isn’t taking your fancy, then the Championship has a bumper fixture on Tuesday between two sides fighting for the automatic promotion spots.

Stoke City have been much improved in the early stages of this season as compared to their showing in 25/26, where they ended the campaign in 17th.

Under the stewardship of former Coventry boss Mark Robins, the Potters have accumulated 16 points from nine matches and find themselves in fourth and just four points off Swansea in the top spot.

The match with Middlesbrough couldn’t come at a better time as Stoke have hit their best run of form of the season thus far with an unbeaten run of six matches and three wins on the bounce.

Robins and undoubtedly Stoke supporters will have been overjoyed with their win last week, which came away at Bolton Wanderers. Despite going down to ten men within the first 20 minutes, they came away from Lancashire with a 2-1 victory.

That sort of performance will have to be replicated against a Middlesbrough side that is recapturing the form that saw them reach the playoff final last season.

Boro are currently in second and two points clear in the automatic promotion places on 18 points, with five wins, three draws and just one loss in nine matches.

They are also on a stellar run where they have not lost in the league since late August, with a current run of seven matches without defeat.

With both needing the three points to continue the early good times, all will be on the line as two of the early season pace setters clash.

Wednesday 14th October EFL Championship: Portsmouth v Sheffield United 19:45

More Championship action on Wednesday as Sheffield United look to sneak out of midtable and towards the playoff spots as they travel to the south coast to face a struggling Portsmouth in need of a pick-me-up.

The Blades have been the definition of inconsistent this season with three a piece in terms of wins, draws and losses so far in the Championship. A record which will need to change if they are to get up to the playoffs and compete for promotion, which is what is expected of a Chris Wilder-run Sheffield United.

Sitting in fourteenth is a world away from where they want to be, and with their current record of three wins in their last six Championship matches, something needs to change if the turnaround is to be ignited.

Some positivity has come their way in the form of last week's win over Lincoln, where a double from Patrick Bamford and one from Tahith Chong secured a 3-0 win. The Blades fans will be hoping they can continue on this positive outlook, as a win could lift them into the top six.

Standing in their way is a Pompey side that is struggling even more and find themselves in 19th place with just two wins from eight matches.

Eight points from as many games is not the tally they were hoping for and has them languishing dangerously just one point from Burnley in the relegation zone.

While Portsmouth will not have astronomical expectations from an 18th-place finish last season. They will be hoping that a long stay away from the threat of the drop is what is on the cards this year.

Confidence will not be at its height at the moment due to a stinging loss to bitter rivals Southampton at the weekend, where an early goal from James Bree was the deciding factor despite the Saints playing a full half with a man down.

With both desperate for a win, will it be a continuation of Blades' brilliance or a redemption for Pompey?
