As July comes to an end, we have plenty on the slate to finish on a high, with action from Super League and The Hundred to play out what has been a month of continuous action into an August that promises to provide much of the same.

Tuesday 28th July The Hundred: Sunrisers Leeds v Manchester Super Giants 18:30

The Hundred continues to bring high-octane cricket action this week as a battle from across the Pennines takes place at Headingley.

The Sunrisers got off to a slow start when they travelled down to the capital to face MI London, with a battle between north and south ending with Leeds returning back to Yorkshire with their tails between their legs after losing by seven wickets.

Redemption was on the cards for the Sunrisers; however, who then back on home turf had to fight through another north/south meeting with Southern Brave.

Despite another hair-raising match where it looked like Sunrisers could be on the receiving end of another beating, they fought through and got their first points on the board after winning by just five runs.

The Manchester Super Giants got off to a winning start to the 2026 campaign against London Spirit in another tight affair at Lords, where, despite home advantage, the Super Giants fought through and won by seven runs.

It was then on to Old Trafford, where The Super Giants continued their winning start against tougher opposition in the Birmingham Phoenix, a side that sat above them in second place before proceedings.

By the end of the game that was no longer the case; however, as the Phoenix was extinguished by a tremendous display and a giant of a scoreline, as Manchester took a super lead of 87 runs to win and put themselves at the summit of the table.

It was Manchester who got the best of the two sides last year as Sunrisers were unable to get past them in both meetings. With the Super Giants winning by 7 wickets and then dominating with a win by 57 runs.

Leeds will be hoping they can enact some revenge on them and take victory on home turf in a result that could bump them up the table and put them in even better stead for finishing in the top three.

Thursday 30th July Betfred Super League: Huddersfield v Hull FC 20:00

The first match of the Super League this week is a bottom-of-the-table Yorkshire derby as the Huddersfield Giants look to close in on double-figure points when they host a Hull FC side looking to get their first win for over a month.

Both sides are on a horrid run of form recently, but Huddersfield did manage to get a win at the weekend when they went to North Yorkshire and the LNER Community Stadium to face the York Knights.

The Giants were put on the backfoot early when York went six points ahead in the opening 12 minutes. But instead of folding under the pressure, Huddersfield fought back bravely in the first half to level things up.

They then get off to a flyer in the second 40 minutes, where they scored 12 points and withstood a late York barrage to win 24-22. A well-needed win and their first taste of success since early March, which got them onto the still lowly points haul of six but still stuck to the foot of the table.

Hull have been on a similarly barren run of form with just one win in their last 11 matches. It has been six losses on the spin for a side that finished 7th last year and hoped to kick on.

Instead, they have only managed five league wins in 2026 and now sit on ten points in 13th place.

At the weekend, it was another loss in the rivals' round against bitter enemies Hull KR in a match that initially showed promise for FC, who took a 12-point lead in just nine minutes.

Instead of kicking on and continuing their momentum, they let The Robins get back in the match and take over proceedings, as they only managed to score one more try whilst KR dominated and ran out 34-20 victors.

Hull will be hoping they can avenge that loss and take the match to a Giants side that gave them their last win. Whereas the Giants have the chance to get a rare back-to-back victory and get revenge of their own for that loss to FC in mid-June.

Friday 31st July Betfred Super League: Hull KR v Bradford Bulls 20:00

From one East Yorkshire side to the other now as The Robins get their round 21 underway with a visit from Super League returners and ex-behemoths Bradford Bulls.

Hull KR are defending quadruple winners with somewhat of a point to prove after an up and down campaign so far that has seen them struggle to hit the heights of 2025 and now clinging onto a spot in the top six.

That is not to say that they have been poor, as Willie Peters’ men have still showed glimpses of promise. From a 62-4 demolition of Wigan Warriors to a stellar run of nine wins on the spin, they have recently been inconsistent in their performances.

Before their win against Hull FC at the weekend, they were soundly beaten by Warrington and Wakefield in the previous rounds.

That inconsistency has them in sixth and within the playoffs but level on 24 points with a similarly stop-start St Helens side.

The Bulls are where they belong, back in Super League, but have been below what some expected in comparison to the other newly introduced sides, York and Toulouse, who have had no previous experience at this level.

The Bulls are towards the bottom of the table without looking in too much danger, though. They have picked up vital victories against sides they have been expected to beat such as Huddersfield and York whilst struggling with those above them, taking batterings from Leeds, Saints and Leigh.

It was another battering from Leeds last time out too, as The Bulls fell to a Leeds side that returned from a shock loss to Castleford in style.

An early try from Armitage for The Giants gave cause for another potential upset, but it wasn’t to be as The Rhinos hit back with 42 points whilst Huddersfield could only score once more and were soundly beaten 42-12.

This season was always going to be an adjustment for them, but they will take confidence from some good performances and hard work put into what could have been an extremely daunting return to a season where they had more expectations than the other new boys.
