Top 50 Singles: 50-41

This year's chart has been dominated by a handful of supersize hits - from Gotye's 'Somebody That I Used To Know' through to Psy's 'Gangnam Style', the crazes have come and gone. But as we reach the end of the year, here at The Yorkshire Times, we have decided that instead of celebrating the biggest sellers of the year, we would instead count down our favourite fifty singles of the year.

50 Two Door Cinema Club - Sun

49 Conor Maynard - Can't Say No

48 Rita Ora ft. Tinie Tempah - R.I.P.

47 Blue Angel - One More Down To Go

Sum up the single in one sentence...

'One More Down To Go' is the sound of New Order and Sophie Ellis-Bextor having cocktails on a beach in Ibiza just before going clubbing with Kylie and some robots from Kraftwerk

What is the funniest feedback you have received for the single?

'The gayest pop song by straight people I've ever heard'

What is the worst feedback you received?

'This is what Wham would have sounded like if they'd had a girl singer'

What are your own thoughts...

'One More Down To Go' is a fun, electro-pop dance track which sounds best with your hands in the air when the sun is shining or given the weather in England, when you need the sun to shine! If you like it, maybe have a listen to the Blue Angel's début album out in March 2013...(shameless plug?)

46 Ben Howard - Esmerelda

45 Oh Mercy - Drums

Sum up the single in one sentence...
A tradition love song sentiments inverted with a disco meets Jorge Ben feel.

What is the funniest feedback you have received for the single?
"I like it better when the girl sings, you should get her to sing more"

What is the worst feedback you received?
"Its simple, too simple, bourge simple" - Mum

What are your own thoughts...
Mum's probably right. Also, listen to Jorge Ben - Forca Bruta.

44 Maroon 5 - Payphone

43 Seasfire - Heartbeat

Sum up the single in one sentence...

'Heartbeat' is an electronic lo-fi song that explores the theme of addiction and the heartbreak that follows.

What is the funniest feedback you have received for the single?

The funniest feedback from the song was our band being described as a "Dub-Step Coldplay".

What is the worst feedback you have received?

The worst feedback we have received was a misinterpretation of the lyrical content on a radio review, the reviewer thought it was a love song but in truth the lyrics are referencing a much darker place and state of mind.

What are your own thoughts?

'Heartbeat' was one of the first songs that we wrote, there are lots of lo-fi elements and understated production techniques that we also used on our first release 'Falling' and which we have continued to use and develop.

42 Willy Mason - I Got Gold (Animal Dance II)

41 Marina and The Diamonds - How To Be A Heartbreaker
