Eurovision: Chatting To The Entrants - Blanka

Blanka may now be making her name as one of Poland's rising pop icons, however, she got her career start on the series Top Model back in 2021. Maximising her time on the show, she released her debut single, Better, which caught the ears of Warner Music Poland, who signed her up for a deal. Two years later she is ready and raring to go to Eurovision to represent her country. We caught up with her to learn more.

Hi, first and foremost, how are you?

Hi! I’m great! Super excited but just a tiny bit tired.

What an exciting 2023 so far... You must be thrilled with how it's playing out. What's been the highlight?

Yes! What a year! I plan that this only gets better!

It’s all been a dream come true, from Solo playing in radios all over Europe to being selected to represent my country, Poland on Eurovison - I feel so blessed.

It feels like all my hard work has started to pay off.

We absolutely love Solo. Tell us a little about the process behind the scenes in creating the song?

Yay! I’m happy you love it! The process was very fast and easy, we had so much fun writing it! Rough demo was created, and two amazing girls and I wrote the song on a Zoom Call.

Did you always intend the song for Eurovision?

Actually, not at all! I never thought about competing for Eurovison until I got a huge number of comments under the music video for SOLO on YouTube saying that I should submit the song!


Have you always been a big fan of Eurovision?

I have to be honest, I knew about Eurovision, but never really followed it much, when I found out I’m competing in pre-selections I did some homework on it.



Who is your favourite Eurovision entry of all time?

I think it has to be Chanel - SLO-MO, she did an amazing job combining singing and dancing, and that’s hard. She’s awesome!

Poland has had a very strong few years at Eurovision. Do you have a favourite Polish performance?

I do! It’s most definitely Edyta’s performance with To Nie Ja - I loved how minimalistic it was, she was so delicate yet powerful.

If you had to file it between two other songs, what would they be and why...?

I think it would be Loreen's Tattoo and Mae Muller's I Wrote A Song. I think both are amazing and I have them in my Spotify playlist.

Who do you feel is your stiffest competition?

I do think it’s Loreen, she’s AMAZING, I’m sure she will do great.

What can we expect from your Liverpool performance?

Definitely a lot of fun, and freedom. We made lots of changes, to the performance as well as to the song …

What is your Eurovision ambition?

To have fun, and fully enjoy the whole adventure that is Eurovison. Get to meet and hug my amazing fans. Of course to give the best performance I can.

And lastly, aside from Eurovision, what other 2023 plans do you have?

I have lots of plans! The closest one is releasing my new single in May.
