Those of you who have followed me for a while know that sometimes I share my 'counselling training' knowledge, sometimes my tips are off the top of my head and sometimes I read something that I feel I must share...and this is one of those Tips.

I was given a copy of a 'new to me' magazine called BREATHE and in issue 21 there is an interesting article named 'Small wonders', by Bethan Louise Nolan, the focus is Self Care, and the essence is as follows:

'What if you stopped saying "I haven't got time" and replaced it with "It's not a priority"?

What if you changed "it's not a priority" to "I'm not a priority"?

HOW DOES THIS MAKE YOU FEEL ABOUT HOW YOU PRIORITISE YOUR DAY

A struggle to make time for yourself can indicate low self worth; what is important, what you achieve or you in your own right.

If this sounds like you grab a pen and write:

I am important because....

Looking after myself is important because ....'

So you see, to protect our happiness we really do need to give ourselves some gentle ME time because always rushing around looking after others can make us feel neglected ultimately very unhappy.
